ImageTexas A&M String Orchestra

This vibrant string ensemble is open to all students on the TAMU College Station Campus with prior orchestra experience. It serves as a vehicle for members to continue their musical experience in the college setting.

Literature performed by the TAMU Orchestra is chosen from the best of standard and contemporary works. The orchestra performs two concerts per semester; one string orchestra concert and one full orchestra concert.  When full orchestra works are performed, wind and percussion players will be selected from enrolled members of the University Bands. Paul Sikes serves as conductor for the ensemble. More information concerning the orchestra can be found at  http://tamuorchestra.tamu.edu/.

AUDITIONS
Membership in the Texas A&M University Orchestra is based on a live audition performed for the conductor of the ensemble. Auditions are by appointment and take place in the E.V. Adams Band Building the week before each semester.  Students who make the orchestra in the fall do not have to reaudition in the spring.  The audition consists of prepared excerpts and sight-reading.  Audition excerpts can be obtained and/or to schedule an audition contact Mr. Sikes at 979-845-3529 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
