Jean Stanley joined the Texas A&M University Bands staff in February 2004, however her association with Texas A&M University and the Texas Aggie Band began long before that. She served as Administrative Assistant to the University's Director of Business Services from 1985 to 1997. From 1990 to 1997 she also worked as the part-time secretary and reunion coordinator of the Texas Aggie Band Association, an organization of former Aggie Band members and others who support the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band. While serving that group she was primarily responsible for planning of the Texas Aggie Band's Centennial Celebration in 1994. As a result of her efforts, she became the first recipient of the Texas Aggie Band Association's Senior Appreciation Service Award, and among those to receive a Grand Award from the Southwest District of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. In 1997 she became secretary to the head of Texas A&M's Department of Atmospheric Sciences and later served as a business associate for that department. When the business coordinator position for the Aggie Band became available, Jean Stanley’s experience in Texas A&M’s business operations and longtime association with the Aggie Band made her the obvious choice. Jean Stanley was born and raised in Hamshire, Texas, a small town near Beaumont. After high school she attended business school and later Blinn College. She is the proud mother of a grown son, Kurt Stanley, who also works at Texas A&M. She is pleased to be a charter member of the Aggie Band fundraising effort known as the Eternal Aggie Band. |
