ConductingSymphonic Winds, Symphonic Band, Concert Band

These ensembles are representative of all outstanding wind and percussion players on the TAMU campus. Literature performed by the bands is chosen from the best of traditional and contemporary band works. The bands perform two concerts per semester and occasionally participate in recording sessions and off campus concerts and tours.

 

The Symphonic Winds and Symphonic Band rehearse 3 times per week and the Concert Band rehearses two times per week during the regular academic day. Travis Almany is the conductor of the Symphonic Winds and Concert Band. Paul Sikes is the conductor of the Symphonic Band

Symphonic Winds: Music 280, Section 502, MWF, 1:50 AM-2:40 PM, 1 Hour Credit (Counts toward VPA requirement)  

Symphoic Band: Music 280, Section 503, MWF, 11:30 AM-12:20 PM, 1 Hour Credit (Counts toward VPA requirement)

Concert Band: Music 280, Section 504, MWF, 11:10 AM-12:25 PM, 1 Hour Credit (Counts toward VPA requirement)

Audition Information
Membership in the Texas A&M University Symphonic Band is based on a live audition performed for the conductor of the ensemble. Auditions are by appointment and take place in the E.V. Adams Band Building. Audition material is selected by the student auditioning and should include two contrasting excerpts which exhibit both technical facility and lyrical qualities. Students should prepare approximately two minutes of each style. Sight-reading is also included in the audition process.
